Broek in Waterland means "Pants in Water".
Which may or may not be fitting for this magical little town?
 
Inspired by the town in North Holland, just a short drive from Amsterdam and seemingly out of a Gene Kelly musical, it is home to around 2700 lucky inhabitants.
 
We visited this village as a family in 2025 and Im sure it will be the inspiration of many illustrations going forward, although this one, is the first - and I must say, the favourite of all my art so far that I have created. The glitter paints are from Germany and the watercolours are Italian, I am French and this is a scene from the Netherlands. That was always going to be a special combo!
